Beginning this week in worship, we are going to be taking a close look at Paul’s letter to the Philippians.  When we read this little letter, we notice at once Paul’s love for that congregation and the joy with which they fill him.  He writes to them while he is in prison, but his joy for them overflows for they have been ”great partners with him in the gospel from the first day until now.’ (Philippians 1:5)

This week we will look at how Paul first came to be in Philippi—to preach the gospel in Europe for the first time.  Our scripture is Acts 16: 1-10 and our theme will be how sometimes our 2nd choice is sometimes better than our first choice.

Thanks to everyone who helped with the garage sale for missions last week.  We made over $6,000.00 and we could not have done it without everyone’s help.  Thanks!

Last week, I learned that two of our staff members will be leaving our congregation to accept positions in other places.  We will certainly miss them and thank God for all of the great work they have done in our midst.

Mauri Ford has accepted a position at Acton UMC in Granbury as their director of Young Adults and Discipleship which will be effective June 4.  Mauri has been a wonderful part of our church staff serving first with our youth and now in outreach ministries.  She has contributed in so many ways to the life of our church; we will always be blessed by her ministry.

Dawn Tanner has accepted a position with Cleburne Christian Academy where two of her children attend.  Dawn has been a wonderful, Christian witness in our office and a joy to greet on the phone or when you enter the office.  Her talents with our bulletins and newsletters are second to none and she has been a loving, caring person to work with in our church office.

We will greatly miss these staff members but know we too have influenced their lives and they will forever be changed by their time with us.  Our Staff Parish Relations team is already at work to find new staff to take over their responsibilities.

                Grace and Peace,
                    Pastor Robert
