Thursday's Table Dinner:  A New Ministry at FUMC
As our church begins the 2012 Lenten season, we are stepping out in faith to start a new ministry opportunity – “Thursday’s Table.”  Beginning the first Thursday of Lent, February 23rd, we invite you to join us in a church-wide meal. The dinners will be served every Thursday of Lent beginning at 5:30 in the Youth Center building. A menu will be included in the previous Sunday’s bulletin, as well as on the church website, and an RSVP option will be printed in the friendship folder for you to respond with your attendance count for that week’s meal. My cell phone number and home phone number will also be made available for your convenience so that you can text me if you plan to attend or leave me a message at home. I ask that you let me know if you are planning to come by no later than Tuesday each week as I will need to have a good count before shopping for the groceries.

Volunteers will be needed for such things as serving, preparing the beverages, clean up and providing desserts. I will be recruiting volunteers over the course of the next few weeks, but for the most part my prayer is that this meal will provide a time each week when most of you can just sit back, relax and enjoy being served. As a church that is so focused on missions and ministering to the community, I feel called to do what I can to “feed the sheep,” so to speak. The members of our church family need to feel encouraged, renewed and served, so as to effectively serve as Jesus’ hands and feet in Cleburne.  The fellowship of this meal together will strengthen our bond to one another as we will get to know members of the congregation we might not otherwise have a chance to meet or talk to.

A love offering is asked for with a suggested amount being $3 to $5 a plate. Money collected will be used to pay for the food and supplies used each week. The funds collected will flow through the Family Ministry Budget, but overages will be placed in the Mission and Outreach Fund.  Thank you in advance for supporting this ministry through your prayers and attendance. I’m excited to get in the kitchen and cook for you!
